Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) - What is this??
Your blood is consists of cells and liquid. The cellular part is Red Blood Cells, White Blood cells, and Platelets. All components have their specific function. The function of the platelets to to delivery healing and growth factors that are part of the healing cascade when the body senses an injury. Platlet Rich Plasma (PRP) also known as the ‘liquid Gold’ houses these healing and growth factors. When an injury occurs, the body sends platelets to invade the area. The platelets are then broken down and the healing and growth factors are released. This promotes the rejuvenation of new cells that will replace the old and damaged ones. As well as the formation of Collagen and Elastin which are two components within the skin that provide structure, integrity, and elasticity.
