Prenatal massage therapy focuses on addressing the unique needs and discomforts that arise during pregnancy. Our trained massage therapists use techniques that are safe and appropriate, considering factors such as the stage of pregnancy, any complications, and the comfort of the mother-to-be.
We offer pregnancy pillowing so that laying face-down is possible, if desired and if it's safe to do so. Alternative positioning and pillowing are also available and each RMT will work within your needs and your comfort level.
What kind of support is possible?
Pain relief Many pregnant women experience discomfort in areas such as the lower back, hips, and legs due to the additional weight and changes in posture. Massage can help alleviate these pains and promote relaxation.
Reduced swelling Swelling, particularly in the feet and ankles, is common during pregnancy due to increased fluid retention. Massage techniques can help reduce swelling by improving circulation and lymphatic drainage.
Stress relief Pregnancy can be a physically and emotionally demanding time. Massage therapy can provide a calming and nurturing experience, helping to reduce stress and promote overall well-being.
Improved sleep Many pregnant women struggle with insomnia or disrupted sleep patterns. Massage can help promote relaxation and improve sleep quality.
Preparation for labor Some prenatal massage techniques focus on specific areas of the body, such as the lower back and pelvic region, to help prepare the mother's body for labor and delivery.
