Facials & Peels
Chemical Peel - what is that?
When you hear the word ‘chemical’ peel, an immediate visual is a bloody mess!!! At least that is what came to my mind!!! Lol
In fact, a chemical peel is very safe and VERY effective when performed by an educated and trained professional.
What is a Chemical Peel?
It is a skin treatment where a solution is applied to the face, neck, and upper chest areas . This solution is usually a natural based ingredient that acts to loosen the bonds that holds the skin cells together. This is done to achieve a light, medium or deep exfoliation or shedding of old skin cells, resulting in cellular turnover and the production of new skin cells. Different solutions achieve different depth of activation.
What are the Benefits?
A fresh turnover of skin cells reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also helps with acne scaring, and hyperpigmentation.
Collagen and elastin production is also stimulated and the overall result is a smoother, healthier, and brighter complexion.
Is there Downtime??
Downtime will depend of the depth of the peel and how your skin does react to the treatment.
Typically 24-36 hours post treatment you can expect redness, dryness, and ‘peeling”. All very common and normal responses. The severity of these of course are individual dependant.
Avoiding direct sunlight exposure and use of sunscreen is a MUST for 2 weeks following a treatment.
Chemical peels are always started at the most minimal superficial level. Evaluation of how your skin responds to your first peel will determine if a deeper level of peel can be tolerated.
Repeated chemical peels with facials are recommended to keep your skin healthy and glowing
