Chair Yoga ~ for every body!
Chair Yoga is an alternative yoga practice for everyone who wants to experience the many benefits of practicing yoga but has difficulty getting up and down from the floor. Using chairs as props for seated and standing yoga postures, Chair Yoga is a fun, challenging, and yet gentle and safe practice built on a tradition of alignment-based yoga. It adapts classic poses to meet the needs of people living with a variety of physical challenges. During the class, students will be guided to be mindful and aware, and to listen to their body, with modifications readily available as needed to suit every body. In addition to physical postures, the class will include guided breathwork and meditations, to help decrease stress in your mind and body. Popular with people of all ages, Chair Yoga is an effective way to improve posture, coordination, and balance; reduce anxiety and tension; and make you stronger and more flexible.
Note: chairs will be provided, mats (for standing postures) are available or you can bring your own.
The teacher, Peg McPhedran, is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT500) who trained in Ashaya Yoga with Shirlee Williams at Buddha Rider; and she is a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT, a 950-hour program) who trained with, and is now on the faculty of the Phoenix Rising School of Yoga Therapy.
